AMAZING HOLIDAYS!!!

Hi everyone!!!

I'm back home from my holidays. We had the most amazing time up at our cottage. It was the first time away as a family without having to compete, work, or even discuss fitness/business!!!
We left early Sunday morning to go up north to the cottage. I was so excited and couldn't wait to get there. I must have annoyed Dennis and Alex all the way there, because I was so excited and kept talking the entire ride....4 hours of listening to me remenise about my childhood memories....poor guys!!! As we pulled into the gravel drive-way, the cottage was just as I remembered it. We unloaded the car and headed inside the cottage, picked our rooms, put on our bathing suits and headed down to the lake. Alex grabbed the minow net and tried to catch some minows so we could fish. We ended up catching a few small minows and ended up fishing all afternoon and into the early evening. We sat on the dock and watched the sunset....it was beautiful.
The entire week Dennis and I woke up every morning around 5ish. My job was to take Happy (our dog) for a morning walk and make a fresh pot of coffee, and Dennis's job was to head down to the dock and get the fishing rods ready. We would sit on the dock, watch the sunrise, fish, talk and just enjoy eachothers company. At around 8am, Alex would wake up and join us down at the dock and join in on our conversations. I would head back up to the cottage and cook a "mean" breakfast!!! We had bacon and eggs, fresh buns/bread, fresh strawberries and yogurt every morning. We filled our stomachs and headed outdoors for the rest of the day. We enjoyed barbequed hamburgers, chicken, hotdogs for lunch and dinner every day as well....what a life!!!!
Some of our experiences that occured on our holidays:
-Alex learned how to bait his fishing rod and "finally" removed his first fish from the hook....this took A LOT of convincing!!!!
-Alex caught the biggest fish of the week. He caught a 20" Northern Pike!!!-Dennis and I caught mainly Perch and a TON of Sunfish!!-Too small to keep.
-I took Alex and Happy for a walk to the frog pond (about 5km) and Happy didn't feel like walking anymore...I ended up getting a back/arm work out in....I had to carry her more than half of the way. (she thinks she's a lap dog, but she weighs almost 70lbs!!)
-Alex taught Happy how to swim...she's definitely not a swimmer...she looked ridiculous...totally upright and waving her front paws frantically in the air. We had to trick her and keep her mind occupied by throwing a frisbee into the lake. As long as she had something to fetch, she could swim perfectly!!! It was so funny to watch.

The morning that we were leaving to come back home, Dennis and I were cleaning up last minute things. Dennis went down to the cellar to clean up the garbage bags. As he opened the cellar door, standing in front of him were a pack of hungry wolves!! Dennis slammed the door shut and ran up the stairs and warned me to stay inside. I looked out the window, and sure enough, there was still one BIG wolf standing under the staircase staring up at us. We banged on the windows and the wolf gave us one last look and ran off into the woods to meet the rest of the pack....what a fright!!!

Overall, our family holiday was amazing and one that I will cherish forever. I can't to head back to the cottage for our next family vacation.

I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend.

Take care,

Love Mindi O
