KAREN ROY....ATHLETE OF THE MONTH!!!!

Congratulations to TEAMOBRIEN FITNESS Figure Competitor and dear friend, Karen Roy for being selected as Athlete of the Month!
Karen is an amazing and beautiful person, inside and out....Karen started out wanting to just get herself back in shape by attending the Conditioning Camps. With hard work, dedication and the "WANT" to change her lifestyle, Karen has definitely achieved her fitness goal and than some...Karen competed for the first time this year at the CBBF Ontario Naturals. Karen looked absolutely stunning and she will compete again on May 22nd 2010 at the Mindi O'Brien/Nina Luchka Classic making some significant improvements. Karen is a positive role model, a wonderful mother and she has become one of my best friends. Congrats Karen!!

Years training: 2 yrs-seriously: 8 months
How did you get involved in fitness/weight training? I always enjoyed weight training and fitness and used to participate in aerobics. I always had gym memberships and belonged to different clubs. I just never took it seriously or built it into my lifestyle. It was a friend of mine who started working out seriously with Mindi and Dennis and that got me interested again. I remember having to wait to get into a TEAMOBRIEN FITNESS CAMP and I left several messages hoping that their was a cancellation. I finally attended my first conditioning camp 2 yrs ago and never looked back.
How was your first show? Any interesting experiences? My first show was totally amazing! I worked so hard to get there that I wanted to enjoy every moment. I had a great group of friends supporting me and we all decided that we would enter the same show and do it together. That was the best part! We helped eachother right up to the show. The support we gave one another was amazing and I truly couldn't have done it without them! The four of us have stayed very close friend and I'm so happy they're part of my life!
What did you like or dislike about competing? I enjoyed everything about competing! I wasn't nervous on stage. I think because it was my one shot and Mindi told us, you worked so hard to get there why go up on stage all frightened...just embrace it. So, I did! Jan Tana is fun too....Who knew one could get sooo dark! Posing isn't as easy as it seems...we worked hard to perfect it and I felt very prepared...it was great!
Future goals in the Industry? I want to continue to compete. My first competition was just a truly amazing transformation. Maintaining my nutrition off season, will help me develop my muscle structure and become more defined for my next competititon.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? In ten years, I would like to be mentoring and coaching other women in the industry, as well as sharing with children the importance of proper nutrition and exercise. I want a yacht and a personal chef to cook my chicken and asparagus just to my liking....lol
Any Additional Notes...Anyone you would like to thank?? I would love to thank both Mindi and Dennis. You are two very amazing people-the fact that you are so dedicated to your members and that you knew what my body needed through nutrition. I found it very interesting...I've never ate so much and lost fat/weight at the same time. You were also there step by step telling me exactly what i had to do. I would also like to thank "My Girls" Serafini, Jo, and Anne Marie-you guys were so supportive over the weeks we were training. Your motivation inspired me...you helped me along every step of the way. And to my sister, Cathy, who wouldn't let me quit, even when I felt like I just couldn't do it anymore. Thanks for believing in me and to Jenn-My every Friday follow up coach in my last month.
Competition History? How did you do? OPA/CBBF-Ontario Naturals on September 19th 2009-I ended up placing 9th overall...in my head, I placed 1st....my next show i know that I will make the appropriate improvements....my goal is to continually improve every time that I step out on stage.
Once again Karen, Congratulations....Dennis and I enjoy coaching you and having you part of the TEAMOBRIEN family....
All the best in 2010!!!
xo
