Anita, Congratulations on taking your weight training up a notch...that's where the real fun begins!!! I love the feeling of going to the gym, having an amazing workout and leaving the gym feeling pumped and full of energy! It's such a rush!
As far as drug use goes, Dennis and I rely strictly on manipulating my nutritional intake both on and off season as well as putting together the appropriate off/on season workout schedule to get the results for the competitive stage. I have been a competitive athlete all of my life and have been weight training for almost 20 years, so we have figured out how my body responds to certain foods, exercises, how much rest my body needs to recover etc.. If you read on some of my earlier blog entries, Dennis and I do not promote any kind of drug use. Our competitive team, TEAMOBRIEN, cleaned up at the Ontario Naturals and We are very proud of that.
The only supplement that we recommend and promote is whey protein...I use Dynawhey from Sportlab Nutrition, multi-vitamin, EFA, b50-complex. www.sportlab.ca
From an athletes perspective the cleaner the intake the easier it is to manipulate the final result...in other words, "less is more", and the "more" is more time in the gym. So the most important supplement is DISCIPLINE!
