2005 EUROPA SUPER SHOW

Hi everyone!!!
My trip to the Europa Super Show was a great experience. Betty and Ed Pariso put on such a great event and they really go beyond the call of duty to ensure all of the athletes, spectators, vendors, judges, etc. are well taken care of.

Dennis and I flew out to Dallas early Thursday morning and arrived in Dallas mid morning. We couldn't check into our hotel room until 3pm, so Dennis and I just wandered around the hotel grounds, checked out the pool, and then went and ate a late lunch and waited around until we could check into our hotel room. At 3pm we checked in and headed up to our room. The hotel was beautiful. Dennis and I just lounged around and watched tv for most of the afternoon. Athlete registration was held at 6pm in one of the hotel conference rooms. It was great to see the athletes...some girls I knew from last year, but there seemed to be a lot of new faces in the room. The energy in the room seemed so positive.......what a good feeling!!! We handed in our music, picked our numbers, received a participation medal, and the rest of the evening was ours....so organized!!!

I went back to our room and Dennis applied my last coat of protan. I also started eating all of my food.....mmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!
I sat around the rest of the evening and listened to my routine music and mentally prepared myself the next day.
Friday morning I woke up at my usual time...4am. We didn't need to be at the venue until 11am that morning, but the promoter of the show said we could go over earlier that morning to try out the stage. I ate my breakfast at around 4:30am, watched a bit of the news, and just started organizing my bag for the competition. Dennis and I headed over to the venue at around 7ish to try out the stage and set up a meeting place to meet in between rounds. The stage was a lot bigger than last year and it seemed to be pretty bouncy!! Thank goodness!!
I only ran through my 45 second routine a few times and then we went back to the hotel to start preparing for the show. I am not one to wear a lot of make-up, so i was pleased with how well I applied it this time!!! Stage make-up feels so disgusting!!!
At 10:50am, Dennis and I headed down to the lobby to meet up with the other competitors to head over to the venue. Pre judging was scheduled to start at noon....right on time!!!
The first round was our two piece: I was called out in the second group of callouts. I thought that this was pretty good!! As I was coming off stage, I was getting pumped and excited to perform my 45 second routine. Throughout my 45 second routine, I was felt really good. I felt that my routine was sharp and polished and I held all of the compulsory moves well. I was very happy with my performance. As soon as my routine was finished I gathered up all of my belongings and headed back to the hotel to eat lunch and get a bit of rest in before the night show. The event finals started at 7pm sharp. Our first round for the evening show was our two minute fitness routine. I was a little nervous about performing this routine and was just hoping that I would have enough endurance to get through it. I only had one week to practise it and only finished choreographing it a few days before heading to the show. I was very nervous about re-injuring my back, so I waited until the last minute to get it done......sooooooooooooo bad!!! Anyways, I was quite pleased with my performance. I know it could have been a lot smoother with cleaner transitions, but I got through it, and overall I think it was a good performance. Our last round was our one piece round. This round seemed much more relaxed... I was called out in the first group of callouts. I was so excited and a little shocked. I feel my physique looks better in the two piece, but the judges seemed to think differently!!! After the judges took us through our quarter turns, we were all asked to leave the stage and only the top three competitors would be brought back on stage for the results. I was standing back stage chatting with Canadian Fitness Pro, Sandra Wickham. I wasn't really paying attention to the numbers being called...Sandra said, "aren't you number 7?" For some reason I thought I was number 5, so I actually had to look at my number to see if it was me being called!! Duh...I was number 7 and was so excited that I had been selected amongst the top three girls. I ended up placing 3rd overall and qualified for the FITNESS OLYMPIA!!! Later when the results/scoresheet was posted, I realized that I had tied for 2nd place with Stacy Simons, but the judges had to break the tie, and I ended up placing 3rd. I feel so honored to be able to represent CANADA once again at the FITNESS OLYMPIA!!! I want to congratulate all of the athletes who competed at the Europa Super Show.........You all looked so amazing!!! Congratulations to Stacy Simons (she's so sweet and very positive) and Tracey Greenwood....your physique was deadly!

I ended up doing a few photo shoots over the weekend and look forward to seeing some of the pics.....I will be sure to post some on my blog when I get them..
I will be competing at the Bulk Nutrition Charlotte Pro show on Sept 30th in North Carolina. This show looks amazing and I am so excited be part of this competition. Check out their site: www.charlottepro.com
